Taiwan Outbound Departure Statistics for September 2022


- 126,864 Taiwanese went abroad in September 2022, increasing 350.96% from the same period of 2021 when 28,132 people went abroad.
- The top destination for outbound travellers in September 2022 was America, followed by China, Vietnam, Thailand and Japan. Vietnam has the highest outbound travel destination rate, rising 3369.89% from the same period of 2021.

In September 2022, Taiwan had 68,318 inbound visitors, increasing 457.06% from the same month of 2021.

- There were 11.39 million people employed and 433,000 unemployed in September, resulting in an unemployment rate of 3.66%, which was 3.64% after seasonal adjustments. The labor participation rate was 59.17%.
- In August 2022, the average regular wage for employed workers was NT$44,497, which had 0.21% decreasing month-over-month and 2.98% growth year-over-year. The average monthly earnings, including bonuses, overtime pay, and other irregular income, were NT$56,108, which had 7.25% growth year-over-year.

Ready for Outbound Departure Upsurge, Airline Companies
Increase 50% of Flights
After the post-pandemic border unblocking, airline companies have made announcements for increasing scheduled flights, resuming and adding new flight routes. China Airlines highly increased the northeast Asia flights from 30 per week to 130 per week in October; with the weekly scheduled flight of 200, EVA Air would expand it to 300 per week in November and December; STARLUX Airlines southeast Asia flights resume to everyday operation with new routes to Hokkaido and Okinawa Japan.

Airline Companies are Equipping with New Aircraft to Strengthen its Capability
Business opportunities in post-pandemic era are now boosting airline companies such as China Airlines, EVA Air and STARLUX Airlines to equip new aircraft for attracting customers. By next year, customers will be able to travel on 110 brand new airplanes from China Airlines group including Tigerair Taiwan and Mandarin Airlines. While there are 11 aircraft receivable for EVA Air 787 fleet, STARLUX Airlines fleet will reach 19 aircraft at the end of this year.

Nearly 10 Foreign Airlines Set to Resume Flight Routes to
Taiwan after Border Restriction Lifted
4 foreign airlines, Air Macau, Thai Smile Airways, AirAsia X and AirAsia, have planned to restart flights to Taiwan in November and December. Other airlines such as Fly Gangwon, Jin Air, T’way Air, Jeju Air, Thai AirAsia, Philippines AirAsia, Royal Brunei Airlines, Malinda Air, Thai Lion Air and Batik Air is planning to resume flights to Taiwan as well. Some new waypoints will be Gimpo, Busan, Jeju, Sendi, Kota Kinabalu, Boracay, Puerto Princesa, Da Nang, Munich and Milan.

The 9th Taiwan-Vietnam Tourism Conference focused on promoting Taiwanese and Vietnamese gourmet food and food culture exchange.
